Ganga Dussehra 8th of June 2014

Ganga Dussehra is a popular celebration in Hindu religion. This is celebrated to commemorate the descent of Maa Ganga to earth from Heaven. It is also called Gangavataran. Hindus believe that river Ganga descended on the earth to purge all sins of followers and prosper the land by providing water for irrigation. This is why people considered river Ganga as sacred and a mother. People from different regions come and takes dip on this holy river to remove their sins. Devotees flock to Rishikhesh, Haridwar, Prayag, Garh-Mukhteswar, and Varanasi to worship and take snan (bath) on this sacred occasion. People take holy water in pot to purify their houses.

Shri Ram Hanuman Vatika temple will organize bhandara for the devotees on this auspicious occasion. Special puja will be conducted by the priest in the temple to venerate Maa Ganga. This special occasion will be celebrated on 8th of June 2014. Devotees can come and pray on this auspicious occasion to Mata Ganga.
