Parshurama is the sixth incarnation of Lord Vishnu. Parashurama Jayanti is celebrated to mark the birth day of Lord Vishnu in this avatar. Every year, it is celebrated during Shukla Paksha Tritiya in the Vaishakha month of Hindu calendar. The date for celebration of Jayanti is taken when Tritiya prevails in Pradosh kal as he is believed to have born in this occasion. Vishnu took the incarnation of Parashurama to lessen earth burden by destroying sinners and evil rulers who didn’t perform their duty wisely by indulging in irreligious and unwholesome activities.
Unlike other incarnation of God, Parashurama is still believed to lives on earth. So, he is not widely worshipped like other gods. But few temples have been erected in the western cost of India which is dedicated to him.
According to Kalki Purana, Parashurama will be the martial master of Shri Kalki, which will be the 10th and final avatar of Lord Vishnu. But it will be not first time of meeting Parashurama with another avatar as he meet with Rama-the 7th avatar of Lord Vishnu during their betrothal ceremony with Sita.
The auspicious Parashurama Jayanti will be celebrated on 2nd of May 2014 in the temple. So, devotees and curious people are requested to come on the occasion to obtain blessing of this powerful god.
