The auspicious occasion of Ram Janmashtami was celebrated with great fervor and devotion at Ram Lila Maidan. Devotees, sages and dignitaries from different parts of the country had attended in the auspicious occasion. Devotees with lots of offering in their hands came to the temple to present to the deity. First, priests conducted ritual with devotees gladly sung the praise song (bhajans) of Lord Ram. People then queued to have darshan of Ram and sought blessing for their peace and prosperity. A sense of contentment and happiness was seen in each devotee. The celebration started on 31st March and continued till 9th of April. Free foods and drinks were distributed daily for the devotees in the venue. The celebration started at 7:30 AM and continued till 10:30 PM for nine days.
Lord Ram is one of the most reverred Gods in Hindu religion. It is believed that He took incarnation of a Human being to destroy the growing immoralities in all living beings. He defeated and killed Ravana-the evil King of Lanka to bring back good and moralities in life. He is regarded as Maryada Purushottama(the best among men) for its divine and supreme human qualities. Devotees take refuge in him to seek protection from evil and bring good to family members.
The special events which took place in the nine daylong Ram Janmashtami celebrations are given below. Like every year, special events were organized during the festival. People from far and wide thronged to the place to witness the glories stories of Lord Rama. Ganesh puja was conducted by revered Maharaj Ramakrishna Das Mahatyagi with other priests to start the auspicious occasion on first day. On second day, a detail character of Lord Hanuman was shown for its loyalty, faith and love for Lord Ram. The life story of Kewat and Sabari was shown for their extreme devotion and love. It was followed by many spell-bounding dramas related to life history of Ram. The Ram Lila shown here is truly enlightening and helps devotees to grow their devotion and love for our God.
